Foodcation #11: Family Meal
quarantine meals from my family's table, sent to my phone, delivered to your email thread
I often don’t have to open Instagram or scour the internet for mouth-watering food photos. And that is truly thanks to the photos I receive from my family (lifelong Connecticut-ies now in Kansas City) of what they are eating. I think it’s something about being an Asian and/or gourmand family that we (mostly my amazing mom - hi mom!!) were always cooking, always grocery shopping, and always planning what we were eating for our next meals…even as we were currently eating.
To be away from them is always hard but in this year of weird, it’s about three notches harder. It is another three notches more difficult because they are eating GOOD during quarantine and never hesitant to show it off to me via text message. I believe that a picture is worth a thousand words so I’m going to keep this one rather short and allow the Lee Family Food Diary to shine.

Pie
Pie
…and more pie.
Sure, receiving these photos isn’t even remotely close to eating with my family in person. But it makes me happy knowing that they are staying safe and staying nourished.
